A look into my cartonnage studio workspace

You often ask me what my workplace looks like and how I have set it up.

In this blog I will show you what my workplace looks like,

and what items I have to craft efficiently and ergonomicly.

I've made this video with a lot of sun outside, so that's why I have the curtains closed

In my studio workspace I have items from IKEA. I have four tables, consisting of two MITTBAK TRESTLES and one LAGKAPTEN table top. You can adjust the trestles to your own size. I think the best way to craft is standing. You can overlook your work and apply pressure if needed. Under two tables I have an ALEX drawer to store things that I do not need on my work table.

When I started box making 'French Cartonnage', more than 20 years ago, the first item I bought was this 0.2" | 6 mm tempered glass plate with rounded edges to cut on. I still work on the same glass plate. You can turn it twice on the front side and twice at the back side. You can easily clean it and it's the best investment I've ever made!

For presenting boxes and for storage (greyboard & tools), I have four KALLAX shelving units. I have them placed horizontally and two on top of eachother. I Love the simplicty of these units.

I hope I gave you some inspiration to design your own cartonnage studio workspace! My studio is not so big, so these items from IKEA are perfect.

I love to hear if you have tips for a studio space, or if you have items in your own studio that are a must for crafting French cartonnage.

Enjoy crafting,
